Silent Addy
Tour Dates
Silent Addy is proving that you don't need to speak loud to make a lot of noise. Whether he’s DJing, producing Miami’s coolest events, or collaborating with some of your favorite artists, he’s quietly becoming one of the most influential tastemakers in dancehall music.
Chances are, if you’ve vibed to dancehall in Miami in the past decade, Silent Addy was somehow responsible. Raised between South Florida and Jamaica, Addy joined Miami DJ crew Eccentrix Sound after high school and set about carving his own lane within the city’s Caribbean music scene. He found his calling creating his own parties, such as Aura and Riddim Series, setting himself apart from other local dancehall DJs with his distinct creative vision and eye for quality branding and aesthetics.
Addy’s growing renown as an influencer also led to work as a DJ for dancehall artists J. Capri and Chi Ching Ching. It was while promoting a European tour for Chi Ching Ching that he got the nickname Silent Addy, after the two filmed a comedic skit inspired by movie characters Jay and Silent Bob (of Mallrats and Dogma fame). The persona fit Addy, who has always preferred to move quietly and let his actions do his talking. Adding the role of manager to his repertoire, he helped guide Chi Ching Ching’s career to the next level and made his first foray into production with “Nah Go Home” featuring Popcaan.
In 2014, Addy launched Way Up! Thursdays at the now-defunct Downtown Miami venue The Garret. The long-running party, now held at nearby club 1306, was a turning point for dancehall in Miami, gaining Addy — and dancehall as a whole — notice from the city’s most influential venues and promoters. Not one to rest on his laurels, Addy joined with fellow DJ Reid Waters to bring dancehall to Wynwood with Miami Vice Episode, a monthly party at popular nightspot Gramps, and South Beach with Coco Jelly, a Caribbean-themed weekly at the Edition Hotel. In addition to his own events, he can also be found spinning every Tuesday at Rum & Bass, the eclectic multi-genre party founded by Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, and bringing his Caribbean flavor to some of Miami’s biggest hip-hop parties. Always ahead of the curve, his latest nightlife venture is Bashment TV, a monthly event at Miami venue Sidebar that’s also designed to be watched online.
“People all over the world know about the different events I do,” Addy says. “If you are in Italy, you can watch at home and feel like you went to the party, and hopefully you can check it out one day in real life.”
